How does the Engen 1-Card work?
Simple steps to giving you more control
1. The cardholder (your employee) simply needs to visit an Engen service station and request the type and amount of product to be purchased (e.g. 50 litres of unleaded petrol). They must then present their Engen 1-Card for payment.
2. The Engen pump attendant will always perform the payment transaction on a Payment Terminal before delivering the product.
3. The attendant will insert the Engen 1-Card into the terminal, select the product type and enter the amount requested.
4. The terminal will then check that the card is allowed to be used at the service station and to purchase the requested product.
5. The terminal calculates the amount payable and checks that the card is allowed to purchase the requested amount.
- (Optional Extra) The terminal will then be touched to a Vehicle Identification Tag which is permanently attached to the vehicle.
6. The vehicle’s odometer reading will then be entered into the terminal.
7. The cardholder thereafter enters his/her secret PIN.
8. The terminal checks PIN.
9. Payment will either be approved or rejected and the terminal will print a receipt for the transaction or an explanation for rejection.
At the end of each month you will receive a detailed statement from Engen, showing all payment transactions as well as odometer readings and amount of litres used per 100 km.

- Simply contact your Engen Card Sales Manager.
- You will be given a Card Application Form as well as a Card Order Form to complete and sign.
- Once Engen has accepted your Card Application, your Engen 1-Cards will be created from information provided on the Card Order Form.
- Within 2 working days your Engen 1-Card, and security sealed envelope containing the PIN number, will be ready for dispatch from the Engen Head Office.

How does the Engen 1-Card Give You More Control?
No cash transactions.
You no longer need to give your employees bundles of cash or vouchers that can be lost or stolen.

Every month you will receive a detailed statement informing you of where, when and how much fuel was put into a vehicle - along with odometer readings and fuel consumption statistics.

As you know Engen offers a host of different products and services, with more being added to the bundle all the time. With the Engen 1-Card you get to decide which of these will be paid for, e.g. if you have a diesel vehicle you can restrict payment to only diesel fuel or you could allow extras like lubricants, car washes, food from the shop, etc The power is in your hands.

The Engen 1-Card has been designed with your business in mind. We know there's a lot more to a business than trying to keep tabs on your fleet expenses so let us at Engen take that weight off your shoulders. Our Engen 1-Card solution will ensure there's a deterrent to theft or fraud at every step.
You don't need to worry about loading each Engen 1-Card as it can be set up to simply hold payment limits, e.g. 50 litres of diesel per day. Engen will manage the monetary value of the purchases and inform you when funds must be deposited.
How do you Load the Engen 1-Card with Money?
If you want to load money onto individual Engen 1-Cards, this option is also available:
- You simply deposit money into an Engen bank account or at an authorised Engen office.
- You complete and sign a Card Load Form.
- Once Engen has received the Card Load Form, your money will be transferred into your Engen 1-Card account as instructed.
- Within 24 hours the money will be available for loading onto your Engen 1-Card the next time it is swiped. It's that easy.
